Collaboration Communication Creativity Critical Thinking Students are not consumers of knowledge, but producers! |
That means their homework should take place less on worksheets and more out in the real world with real experiences. You will notice a lot of 21st century homework calls for students to discuss with parents. This builds communication. Students are also asked to work with parents and family members. This builds collaboration. Students may be asked to apply knowledge, for example, "finding objects around the home that begin with the /p/ sound." This builds critical thinking. Students may also be asked to do tasks that have more than one answer. This targets creativity. These are just a few examples of what 21st century homework looks like.
